Procedure text is an instruction to do something completely. Teks prosedural (Procedure Text) adalah teks yang menginformasikan cara, langkah-langkah melakukan atau membuat sesuau, yang mempunyai langkah-langkah retorika (generic structure of procedure) yang terdiri dari:
- Goal – Material/ingredient – steps. Goal adalah sesuatu yang akan dicapai setelah melakukan langkah-langkah yang terdapat dalam teks (something to achieve)
- Material/ingredient adalah bahan-bahan atau peralatan yang diperlukan untuk mencapai tujuan dalam (things we needed to achieve the goal)
- Steps adalah merupakan langkah-langkah atau aktivitas yang harus dilakukan untuk mencapai tujuan (activities to achieves the goal)
Prosedural teks (Procedure text) mempunyai fungsi sosial (social function) untuk menginformasikan atau memberi tahu dan mengarahkan pembaca tentang bagaimana sesuatu atao bagaimana mencapai tujuan (to inform and direct someone on how to do something or how to achieve a goal).

How to Make A cup of Cappuccino Coffee
Goal
How to Make A cup of Cappuccino CoffeeMaterial/ Ingredients
water
a teaspoonful of coffee
three spoonsfuls of sugar
two spoonsfuls of cappuccino
Steps
first, boil some water in the kettlethen, put a teaspoonful of coffee into a cup
put three spoonfuls of sugar into a cup
add two spoons of cappuccino
fill the cup with boiling water
Finally, stir it and a cup of cappuccino coffee is ready to drink..
Note: Bisanya dalam procedure text dalam "steps" mempunyai ciri-ciri: first, second, next, finally, dll. Dan juga menggunakan kalimat "instruction.
